Clever Little Book

Genre: Inspirational Fiction

"Clever Little Book," is the first of an AMAZING Series that Uplifts and Encourages the reader. All under the guise of a beautiful love story, readers learn valuable life lessons as they take this magical journey with the characters. Easy to read and love, "Clever Little Book," will quickly become a favorite!

The characters are endearing and the adventure never ends as their mundane lives are suddenly immersed in a perfect blend of Fantasy and Spirit. As the main Character Isabel, stands down at the dock daily believing her love will one day come in on a ship, she learns through adventure, drama and fantasy that love is NOT primarily romanticism as she had once believed. Although a simple and childlike story on one level, Clever Little Book has a disarming depth to it that will entrance readers of all ages. It's tone is universal and can and should be embraced by people of all races, creeds and religions.

At it's core it's a story that urges it's readers to live in the moment, and to not forfeit the beauty and wonder of life's journey with over concern for the final destination. Also, that it's NEVER too late to find your true love!

Davis is an inveterate storyteller. This is obvious from her tall tales that link one story/chapter to the next in Clever Little Book and which seem to spout almost effortlessly from her pen. Before long, the reader finds that crossover details from one story (for the chapters feel that way at first, as if they are individual stories that flow one into another as if by chance, not design) have interwoven themselves into a plot, that of an old woman who has waited a lifetime for her love. This old woman, like almost all the other characters, is easy to like and feel for.

What struck me most was the inventiveness of Davis' novel. She tells her stories like a campfire storyteller, one who never runs out of ideas. Her plots meld past and present, passing from one continent to another effortlessly. They are enchanting. May 2013 Review by Writer's Digest

Blood of a Werewolf by T. Lynne Tolles

Blood of a Werewolf: Love & Horror Fuse in Genre-Defying Series by T. Lynne Tolles.  Can You Really Trust the ‘Boys Next Door’?

Tolles fuses vampires, witches and werewolves like never before in ‘Blood of a Werewolf’, the first installment of ‘The Blood Series’. While love can often be blind, Tolles’ gripping narrative proves just how dangerous emotions can be when they’re mixed with the new-found abilities of witchcraft.

For Immediate Release

San Jose, CA – While vampires have rapidly become a staple of modern literature, many critics believe that they’re often-stereotypical use is due for literal new blood. Storming the scene with gusto and giving the world a narrative that is wholly-unique, T. Lynne Tolles is delighted to offer up ‘Blood of a Werewolf’.

The novel is the first part of the larger ‘The Blood Series’, set to add a refreshing twist to the worlds of witchcraft.

Synopsis:

Darby O’Rielly may look like a shy, quiet bookstore owner who waits up at night to make sure her fun loving little sister Rowan makes it home. But that would be a bad assumption if you intend to threaten her family and loved ones. If the deadly magic this witch possesses is unleashed, the whole neighborhood better watch out.
When two handsome brothers move next door, love blooms. Devon and Blake aren’t just hot, they’re vampires hunted by a man with unlimited wealth and vengeance.

When two handsome brothers move next door, love blooms. Devon and Blake aren’t just hot, they’re vampires hunted by a man with unlimited wealth and vengeance.
With these two atypical couples together, mayhem ensues. Darby is forced to use her new-found magic when hunters snatch Rowan to lure the brothers to their demise. A wreckless decision by the enemy transforms Rowan into a werewolf, throwing her new love Blake into a downward spiral. Werewolf terrors from childhood paralyze his judgment and send him packing, leading Rowan into the arms of a werewolf named Dean who helps ease her into the new life she’s forced to embrace.
As the author explains, her book is wholly unique.

“This is grassroots urban fiction with plenty of vampiric twists. It’s a story of love and lust unlike anything written before. While it’s intricate and chock-full of suspense, the narrative follows a classic storyline that will leave readers continually guessing,” says Tolles, a prolific writer.

Continuing, “It is part of a wider series, with volumes two and three already on the market. ‘Bloodstone Heart’ and ‘Deadman’s Blood’ continue this saga with even deeper insights into the arcane world.”

To date, reviews for the book have been extremely positive.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this fanciful story of love and horror. The book is beautifully written in good solid English which make it pleasure to read,” says Bruce Fox, reviewing the novel on Amazon.

Karen Deem was equally as impressed, adding, “Picked it up and could not put it down. I so enjoyed the story line and the people I feel I met and knew from reading. Some books you pick up and thumb through. This book I ingested it which means I read each word like I lived it, like a movie.”

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols

Summary:

She can’t help thinking that Max likes her back—it’s just too bad he’s already dating Addison. How can Gemma get the guy she wants without going after her best friend’s boyfriend?

Review:
Have you ever read books from one specific author because you know that no matter what they'll never disappoint and you love every single one of their books? That's what it's like for me with Jennifer Echols. She has a way of really connecting with her reader and making you so engrossed with the story you never want it to end.

Gemma is a character that I believe we all can relate to. What girl hasn't been in a constant war with their weight and constantly feeling like you're not good enough? And not to mention her "best friend"Addison who's sole purpose is to make sure Gemma is always 2nd best. I couldn't stand Addison, she reminds me too much of how girls are nowadays in high school and I kept hoping that Gemma would just tell her off and finally set her in her place.

I was a bit worried about how she would explain the whole "I like my best friend's boyfriend" thing but she made everything smooth and I didn't doubt Gemma's reasoning or choices throughout the whole book. That's one of the reasons I truly enjoyed this book. I loved that for once I wasn't getting annoyed with the main character/screaming at the book/regretting ever reading the book.

Besides talking about weight this book also brings up bullying, something that has become a national problem. All the characters in the story have had an experience with bullying, even Addison. Gemma is the character that got bullied the most and I love that we get to go through that journey with her and watch her finally stand up for herself.

The One That I Want is another hit for Jennifer Echols and I can't wait to read her next books Such a Rush and her new adult book. I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading a book that simple, perfect and leaves you with a smile on your face.

On the Beach by Steve Schmale

Perfectly suited for me ... just exactly my cup of tea writing...strong characters... I appreciate all the great emotions and plot ...felt as though I was on the beach...I liked the ending.

Twenty-something Lenny Decker is a man of few plans, and he seems to like it that way. Bumming around a sleepy California beach town, Lenny appears to live a life of Zen-like slacker simplicity. His days and nights are a seemingly endless loop of visits to the local bar and pick-up basketball games, punctuated by long stretches in his apartment with only a twelve pack, a bong, and a TV of questionable quality for company.

But Lenny has a thing or two to deal with: a near brush with success in his past has left him running for the comfort of a life where the stakes aren't just low, they're non-existent. Then there's the woman who sees past Lenny's stoned exterior and is challenging him in ways he hasn't been tested in years.

10 Stacks To Success: How to achieve success one goal at a time

Author:  Jerome “Jay” Isip
Reviewed by John J. Kelly

If you find yourself feeling stuck, trapped, suffocating, uninspired and searching for a guide to changing your life for good, there are stacks and stacks of motivational books, guides, workbooks of every possible type and variation. Every library and book store has whole sections dedicated to these types of books. Many of them are, to be honest, a waste of your precious time and completely useless. They can either be too simple, giving easy advice that you either already know or seem parodies of common sense. Others take the other route and make “getting unstuck” so complex and complicated that readers often don’t make it past the second chapter. But there are exceptions that can make a huge difference.

“10 Stacks To Success: How To Achieve Success One Goal at a Time” by Jerome “Jay” Isip is essential reading for anyone who truly wants to change their lives and find success. Isip’s practical, hands-on approach to change gives you the information you need to know to alter your habits and become the kind of productive and successful person you’ve always dreamed of becoming.  This book succeeds where so many others fail because it is a highly readable workbook that is not only straight to the point, but also extremely easy to read and downright hilarious the entire way through.

This book is divided into (you guessed it!) ten separate sections that give you all the background, tools, and information you need to start improving your life right away. The book also includes inspirational quotes from countless of inspirational individuals from Zig Ziglar to Mother Theresa. And each chapter also includes numerous “Personal Activities” and plenty of room to chart your own course.  Beginning with an explanation that in order to change we must work at our very foundations; changing our mental attitudes, behaviors and habits. Isip maintains that unless we first alter our “non-productive” activities which make up our day, we will not be able to begin practicing new ways of living that will bring satisfaction, success and total happiness.  In addition to changing our foundation, Jay Isip also informs us that we must develop a “positive mental attitude” and “attitude of gratitude,” both of which will lead the way to change.

Other sections of chapters deal with allowing oneself the opportunity to dream of greatness, surrounding ourselves with positive people and pushing past our fears and comfort zones. Isip then offers fascinating thoughts on how to change the way you think about money, specific ways to increase creativity and how to begin to behave and act like a winner. The final section is dedicated to a new understanding of how we experience life and change, which Jay Isip says is integral to “finding your bliss.”  Fresh, frank, funny and full of everything you need to know to change your life for the better, “10 Stacks To Success” is a vital source of information for anyone who wants to go from a zero to a hero!

Nobody Bats a Thousand

I really wanted to like this book- and for like the first half or so of the stories, I did. But the endings, while twisty, were watered down by the fact that the stories felt too drawn out to be appreciated. Maybe that's just me- buy it and keep it for those days when you don't want to start another book.

Revised for Kindle, Nobody Bats a Thousand is a book of stories based on reality. The opening story, “A Bar Story”, showing a typical Friday night seen through the eyes of a middle-aged bartender, deals with conflicts that arise from changing times and generations. In “Home on the Range” a college student becomes reacquainted with his uncle, a famous touring musician, who teaches his nephew to look at life from a novel perspective. “Victims of Circumstance” centers on a young slacker and the 24 hours surrounding his 21st birthday in which he stumbles upon epiphanies about life, sex and his Vietnam veteran father. This book of literary fiction contains eight finely crafted stories about ordinary people involved in unique situations, presented in a style reminiscent of Raymond Carver, Richard Ford and David Sedaris.

Elsa

Elsa Baum dreams of moving away from Germany, a country she had watched everyday being dragged deeper into war by Adolf Hitler. Everyone had fallen under his spell, listening and believing in everything he told them.

Elsa and her close friends were the exception; they despised the Nazi’s and would soon learn the extent of their hatred towards others they considered a threat to their ideology of the perfect superior race. After a chance meeting with the daughter of a high ranking Nazi, feelings were kindled and she found herself a part of the minority the Nazis were trying to eradicate.

“I don’t want my story to inspire people nor make them sad; I want it to educate them because hate, homophobia and racism still exist today, and although the chance of another event like the Holocaust is rare; the world will never be rid of the foundations that cause hatred among us” —Elsa Baum

A compelling tale filled with drama, Elsa paints a stark portrait of a dark time in history when hatred claimed the lives of many innocent people, whose only sin was to be born a Jew. It also brings to light the prejudices that continue to exist today and how violence can suddenly rear its ugly head despite seemingly peaceful times.
